CitizIN app launches bringing Indiana into social studies classrooms

The new app from Indiana University, CitizIN, brings Indiana into social studies classrooms. It’s exciting, it’s well prepared, and it’s FREE to Indiana schools.

ICSS Conference 2019 saw the launch of CitizIN.  CitizIN is a new educational app.  It’s designed to aid in teaching about Indiana in social studies classrooms.  CitizIN can assist in teaching the newly mandated Indiana Studies Course.  Each high school in the state is required to make the Indiana Studies Course available to students on demand.  In addition, the app can assist with the integration of Indiana history, culture, and economics in US history courses as mandated by the US history state course curricula.

The CitizIN app was announced by Indiana University President McRobbie at the conference on 15 November at IUPUI.  It was developed at the Center for Representative Government in conjunction with the IU Indiana Bicentennial Committee.

CitizIN boxes were handed out to conference participants as they learned delightfully about the app.  Boxes have also been sent to,ALL principals of ALL high schools in Indiana.  Look for the box in your school’s media center or social, studies department.
