The National History Academy is an intensive five-week summer program tailored for high school students passionate about American history. Running from late June to late July, the Academy blends classroom learning with immersive, place-based education. Students have the chance to visit iconic historical sites such as Gettysburg, Monticello, and Washington, D.C., where they engage directly with the locations that shaped the nation’s history.

The program is built around the case method approach, which is used at Harvard Business School, encouraging students to dive deep into pivotal moments in American history. Through this method, students are challenged to think critically, debate, and draw connections between historical events and contemporary issues.

The Academy offers both residential and online options, making it accessible to a wide range of students. The residential program includes on-site stays where students can fully immerse themselves in the experience, while the online option provides flexibility for those who may not be able to attend in person.

Participants are not only exposed to significant historical content but also to leadership development, teamwork, and public speaking skills, all within a collaborative environment. This comprehensive approach ensures that students leave the Academy with a deeper understanding of history and enhanced critical thinking skills.

For those interested, the Academy also offers scholarships, making this enriching educational opportunity available to students from diverse backgrounds.
