ATLAS Grant Opportunity

The Indiana Geographic Information Office (IGIO) has announced the second round of the Advancing Technology for Learning and Applied Spatial Solutions (ATLAS) Grant. This competitive, reimbursement-based grant provides colleges, universities, K-12 schools, and other educational institutions with an opportunity to expand the use of geographic information systems, spatial data, and geospatial technology.

The ATLAS Grant is designed to support projects that:

  • Advance applied geospatial research
  • Improve access to geographic data
  • Promote effective practices in geographic data management and analysis
  • Strengthen the use and understanding of geographic information across multiple disciplines

Geospatial technology can help students explore connections among geography, history, government, economics, environmental studies, community planning, and public policy. The program seeks to strengthen Indiana’s geospatial community by providing educators, researchers, and students with resources to develop innovative projects and learning opportunities.

Funding Information

The ATLAS Grant program will provide up to $150,000 in total funding per state fiscal year, contingent upon the availability of funds. IGIO anticipates making approximately four awards during each fiscal year.

The grant operates on a reimbursement basis. Award recipients will complete approved activities and submit requests for reimbursement through the State of Indiana’s grants management system.
