Project Archaeology will host a three-day teacher workshop focused on Ojibwe culture, archaeology, and inquiry-based social studies instruction from July 14–16, 2026 at the Seaborg Center on the campus of Northern Michigan University in Marquette, Michigan. The workshop is designed for grades 3–8 educators and will explore ways to engage students through hands-on scientific inquiry, place-based learning, and cross-curricular lessons connected to the history and cultures of the Midwest, including the Ojibwe and Meskwaki.

Participants will experience modeled lessons as learners, analyze historic data from authentic archaeological sites, hear from Indigenous presenters, and explore new ways to connect students to museums and archaeological sites. Registration includes curriculum books, an interactive Ojibwe language presentation by Nashke Games, and a cultural presentation by a local Ojibwe educator. One day of the workshop will take place at the Marquette Regional History Center for additional hands-on learning and exhibit exploration.

The cost is $60, and educators may also choose to earn two graduate university credits for an additional $46. The registration deadline is June 1, 2026. Additional information and registration are available through Project Archaeology.
