For educators teaching grades 3-5.

How can we help young learners see people—not just events—when teaching about the Holocaust? In this 90-minute interactive webinar, Dr. Melanie Koss will guide elementary educators to explore how children’s literature can be a powerful tool to humanize those affected by the Holocaust and other historical atrocities. Participants will learn how to use literature to build empathy, confront fear, and connect past injustices to present-day issues. Through interactive discussion and practical strategies, educators will leave equipped to teach the Holocaust in ways that foster understanding, compassion, and critical thinking.

Dr. Melanie Debra Koss is a Professor of Literacy Education at Northern Illinois University.
